The family that cycles together...

... gets fit, firm thighs together? ;~)

I impressed myself yesterday by riding with my three boys to and from my parents' house. If this strike ever bloody ends and I get to go back to work, maybe I'll ride to and from school, too.

Thursday 3BT

Three good things about today, and then I'm off to bed...

1. A letter and a phone call from Kelly in the same day {I love when we get to make plans!}

2. A friend buying Starbucks drinks for every one of us on the picket line this afternoon. So sweet.

3. The beautiful blooms in our garden. Here are a few for you to look at!

It's not all bad

Things have been pretty stressful around here lately. I've been letting my anxiety get the better of me, and it can be so difficult to shake the negative mindset once I've immersed myself in it. But seriously, what is the point? Being angry and sad and worried isn't going to get me anywhere I want to be. Screw that! So, here I am with 3BT {three beautiful things} to end this day on a positive note, and maybe drift off to sleep a bit faster, too.

1. Those boys of mine. How adorable are they?
2. The weather is magnificent. So much sun. My freckles, and our garden, are loving it.
3. A stack of good books on my nightstand {I actually have time to read them now that we're on strike}. Just finished The First Phone Call from Heaven by Mitch Albom, am half-way through One Hundred Names by Cecelia Ahern, and next up is The Fault in Our Stars. Anything else you'd recommend?

I've missed you guys.

PS: One more thing... Sawyer's birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. And you know how we Pughs love a party!

Saturday morning daydream

A sunny Saturday morning in Paris? Pain au chocolat and a steaming hot latte right there on that bench? Oui, merci.

Where do they go?

The days keep rushing past and no matter how I try, I can't seem to keep up with them. We're at the end of April now, and I haven't managed to write here for a month and a half. There was once a time I wouldn't let a day go by without posting something on my little blog. Not sure what's changed... {I'm older? More tired? Teaching full-time?} but those days are no longer. Life is full and mostly good. I love my job, the boys are thriving, Alan's got the garden looking prettier than ever, and I had a super fun 40th {um, what?!} birthday a few weeks back. All that to say, I'm still here. Hope you are too.

Fancy birthday tea at the Empress with my mom and Amanda

Dying Easter eggs with cousins

Easter egg hunt last Sunday

Ooh, and we got new {matching} living room furniture from IKEA! Hooray!

There's much more to tell, but it's late and before I know it, the Monday morning alarm will be ringing. I'll be back soon-ish, to show you how bloomy Victoria is in the spring.

Until then, lovelies,

It's spring break!

Um, where did that last month go? It's now the middle of March, the daffodils are blooming and I've got 9 days off! I plan to paint a few rooms, drink a few lattes, play at the park with the boys, attend a yoga class or two, and spend some time remembering and celebrating the best friend I ever had. An entire year without you, Em... I miss you every day.

I'll be back soon, friends. With more pictures than you can possibly imagine!

Dreary Sunday daydream

It's been windy and rainy for days now. I'm tired of it. Tired of the damp and the cold and the way my hair goes all frizzy when it gets wet. I'm ready for summer, and hours spent lounging on the deck in the sun, with a good book and a cold beverage. Come on, July!

Saturday morning daydream

You know what I would love to be doing this weekend? Spending a few days in New York City with girlfriends, shopping, eating, strolling the Upper West Side... I think that would be pretty much perfect.

You?

The first week of February

Sipping cinnamon dolce lattes. Making Valentines. Walking in the wind. Warming up by the fire. Dinner in Chinatown. It's been a good week, and a busy one. School has been crazy. We got through Kindergarten registration, Chinese New Year celebrations, and our bowling field trip. Now with 100 Day and Valentine's Day coming up, I'm wondering when I'll find the time to start assessing again and writing report cards. Thank goodness for yoga and long hot bubble baths. And knowing that everything always works out in the end.

How are you? Anything new and exciting happening where you are?

Much Love Monday {last week of January edition}

I've always been quite partial to Mondays. Does that make me weird? Maybe. But whatever. I think it's good to think positive and make the most of a brand new week. That being said, I do love a good sleep-in, and I had one yesterday, for the first time in ages... so hooray for Sundays, too!

Here are a few other things making me happy on this foggy Monday morning {the last one in January!}

  • The long and lovely walk/ride/scoot I had with the boys yesterday. 2 hours, 2 parks, too many roads and trails and trees to count, and plenty of glorious sunshine. It was perfect! Really must do that on a more regular basis...
  • Fresh baked apple muffins for breakfast
  • Groceries delivered to the door!
  • The new series of Sherlock
  • A clean, tidy living room with nary a Lego brick underfoot :)
  • Working with good friends who love kindergarten as much as I do
  • Organized cupboards and closets
  • Yoga + meditation = a calmer, happier me
  • I'm taking my class on a field trip to the bowling alley today. I'm getting paid to go bowling. Awesome!
  • This spring-like weather we've been having lately
  • Letters and emails from my favourite people {including all the old messages, texts and cards from Em...}
Happy Monday, my lovelies. More soon,
Erin xo

PS: January's almost over! We made it!
